As I have already said, the name Lis in Russian means "fox". And I think it is an absolutely right name for our dog))) He is naughty, funny, cheerful, sly and clever (like fox) and sometimes coward.
And from time to time people think he is a real fox because of his appearance.
It is funny, but I knew nothing about this breed. It is rather rare in Russia. And one day I was googling some cardigans (to wear))) and I saw this photo of a very funny dog. I fell in love with him. He was so amusing, so unusual! This breed was Welsh Corgi Cardigan. I read a lot of information (and learned there are two breeds of Welsh Corgis, the Cardigan and the Pembroke, each named for the counties in Wales where they originated), and found a funny legend about Welsh Corgi Pembroke. You can read it here.
We have looked through tons of Corgi Pembroke pics and finally understood that we want this dog!)
But the puppy was too expensive for us... We tried to find not a dog show puppy, just friend. And finaly I saw Lis in an advertisement! He was already 4 month old and he was the last puppy for sale. The price wasn't big and we decided to take a look at him. On the way there Ann told me: "We will just take a look. Now decisions today!". (She knew that I'm very impulsive person. I say first and think after. And to have a dog was my childhood dream.) So, I agreed with her. Lis was so funny little boy. One ear was with adhasive bandage (to be erected). He was sitting on his owner's knees and chewing an armchair's wooden knob. He was so sweet)))
And when the owner asked about our decision, Ann said "Yes. We will take him". I was shocked and so happy))))
The first day at home. |
And that is how we found Lis (I think he was our destiny).
We take him with us in almoust all our trips. He swam in Baltic Sea and Moscow River, he was in Riga (Latvia), in Vilnius (Lithuania), he climbed up the Witches mountain in Juodkrante (Lithuania). He is our buddy, little boy, the only man, and we love him so much!

Lis is a bit famous dog))) His photo was in Architectural Digest (Russia) magazine and on the cover of children's magazine Toshka. But his fame did not turn his dead)))))))))))))))))

And we have some photos from our Lis's mother owner (It is so pity that we didn't know Lis from his birth till he was four months. He was so sweet)
